After the 800th month of Winter here in Edinburgh I often wish I lived abroad, in some nice hot country where I’d never be cold or have soggy socks from being unexpectedly caught in the rain. Where my summer wardrobe is always in season and beach days are always welcomed. But, then I’d miss Autumn. Always my favourite. It always has been and nothing could come close to beating it, not even endless sunshine. Crunchy leaves and the smell of wood burning stoves in the air. Bonfires and chunky knitwear.
Getting home and cosy after a long walk and the smell of soup filling the air. Where feels like Autumn all year long?
Here’s your Autumnal Happy List!
WHAT I’M READING:
So far its taken me 2 years to get to chapter 4 of a book. But, since I started the Happy List I’ve managed a book a season. Progress. I LOVE reading. I forget picking up a book is an option and get the guilt when I can see the dishes from the corner of my eye. But, I’m making more of an effort to pick up a book instead of my phone.
This season, The Upstairs Room, by Kate Murray-Browne.
I’m only a couple of chapters in and I’m enjoying it so far, I’m not one who would usually pick up thrillers but it was gifted by the love Rare birds Book Club and turns out I quite enjoy reading them.
Hoping to squeeze in 2 books this season, have you any recommendations?
WHAT I’M WATCHING:
Harry Potter – it was on our summer bucket list and we STILL haven’t managed it.
Hoping to snuggle up with Ruby and have a little movie date one weekend. I see so much stuff floating around, hufflepuffs and wands and we just haven’t got a clue what it all means. So we are sorting that out soon!
Living in Edinburgh, where Harry Potter was written there are so many shops and even a free tour, so we feel a bit silly that we’ve avoided it.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
The Amelie Soundtrack, Yann Tiersen on repeat.
The Greatest Showman, still on repeat! I don’t think it will ever NOT be on repeat in this house.
A LOT of David Bowie. I was brought up listening to him & my Dad was his biggest fan. And when he passed away recently it made me feel better having it on in the background some days.
I haven’t had much chance to listen to podcasts lately, I still haven’t found THE ONE.
Am I just being fussy?
WHERE I’M GOING:
Possbly London. Possibly not. I have no real plans for travel this Autumn or Winter. I’m a bit of a homebody and love nothing more than snuggling on my own sofa, or a nice cosy cabin away somewhere quiet.
I just love Edinburgh for the Autumn, the colors are just so perfect. Walking around with a cosy coffee, through the meadows on a Sunday afternoon. Total bliss.
Theres a few things I want to do and might make a few plans for spring.
WHO I’M LOVING:
Harriet from SpaceMasks. If you’ve never tried one.. you are missing out.
I’ve had a really hard time falling asleep lately and these seem to be doing the trick. I assure you, this isn’t a paid, sponsored, affiliate or gifted post. I genuinely love these. So much so I asked for them for my birthday, and christmas this year. You can never have too many, right?
They should be supplied in ANY new mum kit, post night out kit. Anxiety kit, sleepover kit, stress kit, hangover kit. Self care and just because kit.
Like tea, they help or make any occasion better and I’m not sure I could recommend them enough.
What is on your happy list right now? xo
Try the Emma Gunn’s show for a podcast, I started listening to her 26 habits shoes and am hooked x
