3am | motherhood

lucy quilt

Attending to sick twins and nursing a new baby is never quite the 3am you imagine.  But it’s a time I see more frequently now that I am a mother.

It’s a chance to notice those little things you haven’t quite before. Their long lashes that change from auburn to blonde halfway.  The scattering of little pink veins that run across their eye lids like miniature maps. Every few breaths lead to a little comforted sigh, knowing I’m there. And those contented little smiles that spread across cheeks letting you believe that they are dreaming the most wonderful dreams.

So while the house is still and the birds are still silent, I am quietly sat, watching them dream.

This post is lovely; what a precious little one! This quilt is amazing. Where do you get your floral material? I am going to be married in June, and this material is exactly what I have been looking for in a quilt for our new home.
